Blocked Drains Wallsend

Wallsend Plumbing Co clears blocked drains across Wallsend and the neighbouring suburbs, from a slow kitchen sink to a sewer rising up through the yard. Once the pipe is open, a drain camera shows the cause on screen before you spend anything on repairs. Ring (02) 4063 1093 with the fault and the right gear comes out.

What's Blocking the Line This Time?

The cause decides the fix, and on these streets it's usually one of four:

  • Roots. The leafy older blocks around Tyrrell Street and Boscawen Street carry big established trees, and those roots hunt out every cracked joint in a clay sewer.
  • Dropped joints. Old earthenware lines shift over decades until the joints misalign, and waste catches on the lip and builds up.
  • Grease and scraps. Kitchen lines fed years of fat and food waste slowly narrow until nothing moves quickly.
  • Storm backup. When the creek channel through town overloads in heavy rain, connected pits and yard drains back up even when the pipe itself is clear.

The pattern of the blockage usually points at the cause before we even open the gear.

When Is It the Main Line?

A single slow fixture is usually local. When the problem is further down, the whole house tells you:

  • More than one fixture gurgles or drains slowly at the same time.
  • The floor waste bubbles or fills while the washer is draining.
  • The yard grate or an overflow point sits wet and smells long after rain.
  • Flushing the toilet pushes water up somewhere else in the house.

That last one is a sewer problem, and it needs sorting today rather than tomorrow.

The Job, Step by Step

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 1093 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Cleared, then filmed

The jetter or electric eel opens the drain, and a camera pass records the pipe running free along with whatever caused the choke.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

Wallsend Drain Services

Each job below uses its own method and gear.

CCTV Drain Inspection

A camera run that records the pipe's material, its condition and the exact spot it failed. It's the place to start when the same drain keeps choking: see inside the pipe.

Drain Jetting

Water at high pressure washes grease, scale and sludge off the whole bore, the build-up a cable leaves behind. Suits kitchen lines and silted runs: book a jetting run.

Blocked Sewer

Every fixture backing up together means the sewer itself, and it needs clearing before waste comes inside: clear the sewer line.

Stormwater Drains

Yard pits and downpipe lines carry the storm load on the creek flats, and a choked one shows up in the first heavy rain: sort the stormwater line.

Pipe Relining

A resin liner set hard inside the old pipe seals cracked joints without a trench through the garden: reline without digging.

Tree Root Removal

Roots cut from the pipe, plus footage of the joint they came through and what will keep them out: get the roots out properly.

If the Fault Sits Somewhere Else

Not every wet-floor call is a drain job:

Plumber collecting gear from the ute toolbox

emergency plumber

Water entering the house overnight goes to the emergency plumber page first.

Drain camera monitor showing the inside of a pipe

leak detection

A blockage that leaves a hidden drip behind is a leak detection job once the line runs.

gutter guards

Leafy blocks whose gutters spill leaves into the pits also benefit from gutter guards.

What Drives the Price of a Drain Job?

On drains, the biggest variable is getting to the pipe:

  • Access. A pit in an open yard is quick to reach; a line under a slab, an extension or a cottage floor is not.
  • Pipe material. Clay, earthenware, galvanised and PVC each take different fittings and different methods.
  • The fault itself. Cutting out one root ball takes far less time than replacing a caved-in section.
  • After hours. Night and weekend work is priced higher, and that's shown in the quote before you say yes.

Old Pipe, Big Trees, Flat Ground

Pipe older than most of the houses

The pre-war miners' cottages on the oldest blocks still drain through the earthenware and clay their builders buried, and a century underground takes its toll. Joints slip, cracks open, and each fault lets the next one start sooner.

Roots in every crack

The leafy character blocks that make these streets worth walking also shade a web of roots, and a root finds a cracked joint the way water finds a hole. Clearing alone just resets the clock.

Flat ground adds its own problem

Low streets near the shops share ground with Ironbark Creek, and a storm channel that overloads in a big blow backs up even a clean line. In that case the pipe is fine and the levels are the story.

When We're Not the Right Call

Sewer chokes beyond the property line are the water authority's responsibility, not a job for your plumber. And if a storm has the whole street underwater, the council channels come first; our work starts at your boundary.

What Customers Say

We talked through the options of our blocked kitchen sink drain (not just an s bend problem) and came to the perfect long term solution at a reasonable price.

Drain Questions, Put Plainly

Why do drains in Wallsend block so often?

Because the oldest homes here still drain through clay and earthenware pipe laid in the mining years. Joints shift, the big old street trees find every gap, and the blockage returns until the line is repaired rather than just cleared. The footage settles which job you are facing.

Do you camera the drain after clearing it?

Yes. Once water is running, you watch the cleared pipe on our screen rather than taking our word for it. It also picks up whether the original cause, often roots or a slipped joint, is still there waiting to block things again.

Can tree roots be stopped for good?

Cutting gets water through, but roots left with a cracked clay joint to use will grow back. Where the pipe is otherwise sound, relining seals the joint for good; where it has collapsed, that stretch has to be excavated, and the footage tells you which case applies.

Is a blocked stormwater drain an emergency?

In heavy rain, it can be. The town centre sits low beside Ironbark Creek, and when the storm channel overloads, water pushes back up through low drains and floor wastes, so water entering the house is urgent. In dry weather, a slow stormwater pit can wait for a normal booked visit.
